Van Niklas is famous for producing Italian made men’s accessories, but have something new under their belt. No pun intended. The company has recently undergone major internal changes in the shape of the addition of Roger Wilkinson, former owner of the Midland’s independent boutique chain ‘Limey’s’. After selling ‘Limey’s’ to ‘Cruise’ Wilkinson was looking for a new challenge and seems to have found it at Van Niklas. In collaboration with Nick Griffiths, the man who brought Van Niklas from conception to reality seven years ago, Wilkinson is leading the business into new terrain. The pair have designed and produced a new range of aspirational yet affordable men’s tailoring. Their aim is to fill the void in the market between designer labels and high street stores, with classic well cut suiting. And the latest pieces to arrive at Coggles prove that quality and detail do not have to be sacrificed in the face of cost-effective production. Whilst the collection has been designed for the modern man, Van Niklas is very masculine in design and cut. Admittedly they had the likes of Daniel Craig and Jude Law in mind throughout the design process. Double vents and two buttoned jackets dominate in a solid colour palette of blacks, greys and navy’s, with a smattering of city stripe detail. The Mercaston Venetian suit is a classic piece, and Coggles have it in black and heather grey.
