Stone Island

Stone Island is a world-widely recognised make of designer fashion clothing. The label was set up by Italian designer Massimo Osti in 1982 as a secondary line or diffusion collection of his est. 1974 main C.P Company label. Apparently Osti named the brand after the name of his boat, Stone Island. The brand was remarkable for specialising in surface treatment of fabrics and dyeing techniques. Stone Island owes continuous success to research and innovation both in the construction and details of the finished garments and in exclusive materials developed through a tight co-operation with specific fabric producers. A key feature of a Stone Island garment is the signature compass patch that buttons onto the upper sleeve of the left arm. Originally the patches were green edged, badges from around the year 2000 onwards became black edged. Sportswear Company has invested in technology and research. It’s experimental dyeing and printing facilities have been the hub of much research within the possibilities of high quality garment dyeing in order to achieve, through this technique, unique colourings (up to 6 colours on one single garment) - it is this innovation that maintains Stone Island's value, both residual and sentimental - and keeps the label ahead of competitors.
